  i am having some issues in making my basslines sounding right.... any suggestions or advice accepted heavily 
 
first of all i`m boggled on how to make the crunchy part of my bassline. i mean really gnarly. i tried some methods but didn`t get anywhere near to what i wanted. If its about layering then give me a in depth explanation cause i`m clueless....... bare with me     
 
also..... how can i avoid my bass from eating my kick drum and creating a huge spike on its frequency and leaving them on their own?

load your bass sound up in kontact (load a instrument and map it accross the keys in the mapping part)

do this 3 time so you have 3 of the same bass sound loaded up

set them all so they are triggered by the same midi channel in your sequencer (ie midi channel 1)

set them so they each have a seperate output channel on kontact (ie 1,2,3)

with the first bass channel put a low pass filter on it and cut everything above 70hz

withthe 2nd channel put a band pass filter on it and stick it so the peak of the filter is about 1.5k

withthe 3rd channel put a high pass filter on it and get rid of everything below 2k

(use the filters in kontackt for that bit)

turn down the channel on the bass sound you put the band pass filter to about half the volume that the other two are on

put ohmnicide distortion plug in on your high passed bass and mess around with the top end distortion

stick a eq on you low passed bass and boost it at about 50hz (make sure you use a thin eq so you dont boost to wide a freqeuncy)




this is genrally what i do obviously the original bass sound will need to be decnet in the first place (try using a 808 kick drum pitched down)

ohmnicide will make that nice top end growl

filtering your bass like that will also leave plenty of frequency space for your kicks and snare (70 - 250 hz)

    can the mapping work without a midi keyboard ?  i can`t really get my head around it and i`m guessing its because i`m missing a midi controller

yes it should, i dont use a keyboard just the piano roll and it works fine for me

can you apply the same technique in halion as i only have halion cant get kontakt to work on my comp for some reason?

i'd guess so, mike(vapour) will know fi sure, he uses it i think?!
