...after a pissed up drunken jebend mate of my housemate knocked a pint right up into the back of the fucking thing at our last Iguana night!

Yes the law of sod strikes again.
Laptops aren;t built to withstand the environements were ppl like us are gonna use them...
This for me is the main problem, not even problem: super-flaw of thinking behind serato etc.

Yeah man, you're not wrong although I'd argue the risk is the same with CDJs, turntables or laptops - its jus that laptops & CDJs cost a lot more...

I'm gonna get me a proper stand pronto as, if it had been elevated off the table, I'd have had absolutely no problem.

Jus lucky I've been busy lately and have a couple of tasty cheques in the post to pay for it I guess...

Phil on the rizzle I think you should invest in somekind of waterproof sleeve for the laptop to sit in for gigs just coz it's elevated doesn't mean someone cant spill a drink into it.
a mate of mine who did lots of spray painting used to wrap his keyboard in cling film to stop the particles getting in there in his studio.

I've been a victim of a pint being spilt inside both my technics & mixer in one hit. was not pleased but I took them apart and cleaned all the parts with nail polish remover on a cotton buds and they worked fine after that. shame it's not that easy with a mac book (blatent design flaw there I'd say)
